Short stroll in a Chinese national park
Are we all ready for a little exercise? It's just a short hike, but maybe enough to get our blood circulating. Let's go!

First, we take the tram up to the start of the trail:

Now we follow the path:

Use the railing if you find it helpful:

We might want to keep an eye on that guy in front of us:

Let's pass these slowpokes!

Here's a few steps to climb:

A little bit steeper here: be sure to use the handy toe holes!

Just a few more steps to go:

And here we are! Enjoy the pretty view for a minute, & then we'll head back down. Race you to the bottom!

Can we all get together again next weekend?--we're going to help the park rangers rebuild the trail: it's simply falling apart all over.

I am not usualy bothered by heights, but those fotos made my stomach queasy. Still, I would love to see something like that up-close.

I dunno. Maybe some folks like to bike that trail, but their bikes got stolen?

There are some nutjobs in Boulder who do stuff like this. Half of them go back to do it again, while the other half get permanent addresses at Shady Acres.

When I made my heroic climb up Long's Peak in 2002, there were some parts on the descent that gave me the heart-beat skip. I had not seen how close the 3,000 foot drop was on the ascent as it was done in the middle of the night.

It was worth it though. Having breakfast at 14,000 feet plus as the sun rises and seeing for hundreds of miles and enjoying this with 25 other people is something to remember for a lifetime. Supposedly, the cell-phone signal was coming from Salt Lake City, 500 miles away.

The other bad part of the climb down was beating the regular afternoon thunderstorm (dangerous lightning). We beat it by less than 30 minutes.

If you want to try mountain climbing like part of the pictures Vebilt shows, try Climb Nashville off 37th Avenue North. It is a hot place for the under 30 crowd and all the ex-Coloradans of any age. I am an expert belayer if anybody needs someone to belay for them. Only three people of the 18 I have belayed for ever tumbled more than 1,000 feet.

The man who prefers his country before any other duty shows the same spirit as the man who surrenders every right to the state. They both deny that right is superior to authority--Lord Acton.
